Replacing Exterior Doors to Save on Energy Costs: IDT Energy

Every time that you make a change in the house for better insulation, you help yourself to save energy and costs.  If you’re considering new ways to save energy in the home, take a look at your exterior doors.  Replacing old, ill fitted exterior doors with new ones may be the right investment for you.  It will result in lower heating and cooling costs and can help you to save, whether you use IDT Energy or another company.

Furthermore, if you’re building a new home, you should certainly consider buying the most energy-efficient doors possible.

Glass and patio doors, for instance, lose heat much faster than do other door types, because glass is a poor insulator.  Look for glass doors with metal frames that have thermal breaks.  Also look for models with several layers of glass, with low-emissivity coatings and with low-conductivity gases between the glass panes.
